"The Wheel of Time" is an idea we can talk about now because it makes a lot of sense given the history we've collected and learned about. But it isn't inevitable just because we've named it based on (geologically-speaking) recent events. There have been countless social theories that seem inevitable because they make perfect sense with the information collected at the time (eg some women are witches, God plays favorites, etc) but they look like backwards rationalizations declared as natural law to us now. I think corruption is something cultural that makes perfect sense and feels inevitable to us now, but will seem insane to a well-educated future society.
