My thoughts are that there's no way to explain how this will work to someone on the outside. The only way to get someone in this situation to get onboard is to see it in action on a small scale. That person had a bad experience with anarchists making decisions that they didn't understand and felt disgruntled by. I'd ask them to explain the reasoning that the group went through that allegedly made it so the person couldn't eat (?). Anarchists really need to deliver on working examples in every interaction when it's possible. In this case they needed to get someone who wasn't bought in to understand how they benefited from the decisions and how it would have been worse for them if it'd been a hierarchical decision making system.
