Then the question becomes what do we think of specifically devs at FAANGs making almost ridiculous compensation supporting the modern underpinnings of techno-capitalism. In my opinion, those positions are basically like joining the police force to oppress others on behalf of property owners. (This can apply to a couple other engineering type jobs, like building missiles, insurance products, crypto scams, etc.)
