Here's the thing though. If we didn't have _so many_ cars we would have 10x the number of secluded areas to access because we wouldn't have sprawled our cities all over the map. And those secluded areas would be much more accessible by combinations of human powered vehicle, transit, and smaller scale vehicles like ATVs. Even a lot of our national parks are being overrun by parking lots. So yeah, the widespread adoption of the car was bad for outdoor enthusiasts too.
