This is another tragedy of the commons problem though. Sure it's better for you to just ignore every ignorant person you meet. But if everyone does that, then the ignorant stay ignorant. Not only that, they can spread their ignorance to others. And then if you pass some threshold, you end up with runaway ignorance.
