I'm fully aware of the difference. But you questioned how it was possible to assess the value of their assets, and I was simply pointing out it's already a common practice and pretty easy. But if you want to go there, personally, I think that if regular homeowners are taxed on the full asset value of their home investment the stock market should honestly work the exact same way. Why should houses be the one specific asset where you're taxed on the whole value? And of course the tax would be way lower like homes at 0.1% - 0.5% or something.
