One dev has no power. All the devs collectively coming to understand that the system they built has reinvented 19th century-style piecework labor. That could change everything. I'm sorry to break this, but a software dev at door dash is closer to the 1% than they are to the person delivering. The range on levels.fyi is $193k-$546k depending on experience and it takes about $500k to be in the 1% by income in the US. Tech people at big tech firms have unbelievable power that they are choosing not to wield because they'd rather have their stock options blow up so they can turn around and become VCs too someday.
