I won't argue that our gov is controlled by oligarchs, but I'd like to point out that Capitalism itself does not, nor has it ever "spread wealth" beyond a relatively small ownership class. It is a system with a built-in positive feedback loop where having wealth allows you to control the property that let's you extract wealth from those in a more precarious position. All of the major gains of "spreading wealth" have come from regular people demanding it against capital's wishes in solidarity with one another.
