I came up with a name for this: Carbon Fragility, like a climate change analog of what white fragility means for racism. There's an idea called white silence, where people just get uncomfortable and change the subject (or downvote uncomfortable content) when they are confronted with their complicity in a racist system. Carbon Fragility is the same but with regards to your effect on the environment.
